NY Woman
The NY artist woman oftentimes creates alone in her sacred place of the city where her heart is tossed between ever changing opportunities and closed doors. But here is the space that is constant, safe and her own.
It is in these homes where she conceives ideas and experiences profound climaxes of her artist work; the victories of putting pen to paper, pressing the shutter button or crafting a dance. In the coveted window light, she clings to and basks in tiny, intermittent rays. It is in these small spaces that awareness of her body makes her look within herself for the creativity she desires to bring forth. She is forced to dig deep. Deeper into the puzzles of her past, the pondering lyrics that lull her and the prose that abides in the stillness.
Here she discovers the love for herself which frees her to love others and receive it from them too.
Each season of this city threatens to bring new depth of loneliness. Yet she finds her dreams and the power to express them. She recovers from spoken wounds of the past and bravely nurses the shy, sheltered artists children of her mind.
